Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant has seen his NBA star grow exponentially since his arrival as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.

He’s been named an All-Star starter, All-NBA, Rookie of the Year, and Most Improved Player all within a three-year span in the league. His rise to stardom has been unprecedented and it’s why he’s been named the best NBA player under the age of 25 by FanSided, our parent company.

Ja Morant custom shoes are out of this world

To celebrate, FanSided had some custom shoes designed for Ja Morant and his daughter, Kaari. Artist Rosanna Kalis customized these shoes, someone who was tapped in the past to create some custom shoes for Luka Doncic— last season’s No. 1 in the FanSided NBA 25-under-25 list.

Kalis did an outstanding job and used the shoes as a canvas to create a comic book-like scene of Ja Morant gliding through the air for a one-handed dunk. In the background, you’ll find a sunrise starting to pop up above some clouds.

Morant’s hometown area code of 803 is featured on the back of the shoes, a nod to his South Carolina roots. You’ll find other Easter eggs painted on the shoes like “Sumter,” the city in which he went to high school, and “Catchall Road,” the street in which he grew up.

It’s a really cool gesture and one that feels quintessentially Ja Morant. It’s a great way to celebrate all that he’s accomplished during the short time he’s been in the league.

The NBA superstar is hoping to get off to a hot start when the Memphis Grizzlies begin their 2022-23 regular season Oct. 19 against the New York Knicks.

The Grizzlies are looking to improve on last year’s 56-win season and advance past the Western Conference Semifinals.
