Ja Morant the MVP candidate has officially arrived for the Memphis Grizzlies after putting on an epic performance vs the Houston Rockets on Oct. 21.

We saw Morant make an All-Star leap from year two to year three of his NBA career and now it’s evident that he’s taking an MVP leap in year four.

Ja Morant erupted for 49 points in 31 minutes of action, propelling the Grizzlies to a 129-122 win and improving to 2-0 on the young season.

Ja Morant showing he’s the best player in the NBA on a nightly basis

With two impressive performances to start the 2022-23 season, Ja Morant has set a new franchise record for most points scored in the first two games of the season, according to the statisticians at Bally Sports. Morant scored 34 in the season opener and 49 in the second game of the season, totaling 83 points.

The Memphis Grizzlies superstar can pour in the points, but he’s also been playing great defense. For the second consecutive game of the season, Morant had an epic chase-down block to help preserve the team’s win.

Morant looked great in the season opener vs the Knicks and looked even better vs the Rockets.

His three-point shot looks better than ever. He went 5-6 from deep after going 3 of 6 in the season opener. This is somewhat surprising because entering this season, Ja Morant was shooting in the lower end of 30% from three. His development of a three-point shot could spell doomsday for opposing defenses.

Ja Morant thrives in the paint, having led the NBA in scoring in the paint last season. If he becomes a three-point threat, how do you defend Morant? Slack off too much and he’ll drain a three. Play him too closely and he’ll blow right by you and put you on a poster.

At just 23 years old, Ja Morant has steadfastly become the most dominant player in the NBA. His consistency, skill, drive, and flair is enabling him to surpass LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Kevin Durant right before our eyes.

Entering this season, we thought Ja Morant was just the best NBA player under the age of 25. Now, it’s becoming clear that he’s just the best NBA player. Period.

Place your bets while you still can, Grizzlies fans. Ja Morant has entered his final form, MVP front runner, and soon he’s going to be impossible to stop.
