Duds from Memphis Grizzlies win vs Brooklyn Nets

Who struggled the most in this highly anticipated matchup?

Memphis Grizzlies forward Dillon Brooks

Dillon Brooks played hard. He had a tough assignment in trying to guard one of the best scorers in the NBA in Kevin Durant. He had varying degrees of success doing that, but really struggled scoring the ball. He took 13 field goal attempts and made just two of them.

It’s his first game since the Oct. 13 preseason finale and clearly has a lot of cobwebs to sort through. But, should he really be taking 13 shots in a game? Especially when the Grizzlies had two extremely hot hands in Bane and Morant?

Brooklyn Nets guard Ben Simmons

All-Star Ben Simmons, still trying to find his footing in Brooklyn, fouled out after logging 28 minutes of action. He was a -16 in plus/minus in the game after scoring 7 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 rebounds.

Simmons is taking baby steps forward and trying to get comfortable with his new team, but there have been few positive takeaways from his three outings thus far.

Brooklyn Nets forward Yuta Watanabe

Yuta Watanabe, a former reserve for the Grizzlies, played six minutes for the Nets and posted a Tony Snell-esque 0 points, 0 rebounds, 0 assists, 0 steals, 0 blocks and 1 field goal attempt. The Nets are so thin with their depth right now, Watanabe has to play better in his relief minutes.
