Captain Clutch shows up against the Spurs

The 2016-17 season would be the last time the Core Four make the playoffs. They wouldn’t reach far, but they would offer us one of the most memorable games in Memphis history.

The Grizzlies were down 2-1 to the San Antonio Spurs in the first round, making Game 4 at Forum a must-win if they wanted to stay alive in the series. Mike Conley, known for showing up on the biggest stage, would not go down without a fight.

He finished the game with 35 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists as the Grizzlies took game four in what was a thriller from start to finish.

Marc Gasol hit an astonishing game-winner to win it in overtime, but the game wouldn’t even reach OT if not for Mike’s late heroics. He scored 11 points in the 4th quarter, including a right-handed floater with 5 seconds remaining that sent the game to extra time.

Kawhi Leonard and the Spurs would be too much for the Grizzlies, as they went on and closed out the series in six games. This Game 4 would go down not only as Conley’s best playoff performance but also as the last playoff win of the legendary GnG era.
