5. The Memphis Grizzlies are still the deepest team in the NBA

After the loss of two key rotational players in De’Anthony Melton and Kyle Anderson this off-season, a lot of people questioned whether the Grizzlies tarnished what was one of their biggest strengths (i.e., their depth).

10 games into the 2022-23 season, I am here to tell you that not only do they have just as much depth, they might have just gotten deeper.

For starters, Santi Aldama has done a phenominal job starting at the four in place of an injured Jaren Jackson Jr. He has shown early this season that he is ready to be an impactful rotation player in only his second season.

On top of this, rookie Jake LaRavia has been phenomenal in his role off the bench. He provides key floor spacing for this Grizzlies team, and has shown he can consistantly knock down three pointers when open. David Roddy started off very slow, but in the past week has started to come around and show why the Grizzlies traded up to snag him as well.

Once Memphis gets fully healthy, they are looking to have a rotation of:

STARTERS

  • PG – Ja Morant
  • SG – Desmond Bane
  • SF – Dillon Brooks
  • PF – Jaren Jackson Jr.
  • C – Steven Adams

BENCH

  • Tyus Jones
  • John Konchar
  • Ziaire Williams
  • Santi Aldama
  • Brandon Clarke

This 10-man rotation still does not include Danny Green, Jake LaRavia, David Roddy, or Xavier Tillman.

The Grizzlies have shown that they are still the deepest team in the league, and with a 7-3 start, have shown that they can be a contender this season once they get fully healthy.
