Desmond Bane would be at least a top-6 pick in a re-draft

The 2020 draft class featured some very respectable players. James Wiseman, Patrick Williams, Obi Toppin, Deni Avdija, and Saddiq Bey, to name a few, are all talented young players who are key parts of the rotation on their teams.

It’s hard to argue, though, that any of these players would land higher than Bane again, as they simply are nowhere close to the All-Star production of Bane.

Besides them, some names stand out. Those are Anthony Edwards, Lamelo Ball, Tyrese Haliburton, Tyrese Maxey, and Devin Vassell. Five special guards who have shown star potential. But which ones would actually get picked before Bane?

Lamelo has yet to suit up for this season due to an ankle injury, but it would be very hard not to be the no.1 pick in a 2020 re-draft. His flashiness and creativity make him must-watch every time he steps on the court. With his ball-handling skills and insane passing ability, the 6’7, 21-year-old guard can be a top point guard in the league for years to come.

The actual no.1 pick, Anthony Edwards, would still get my pick over Bane. He may be having a statistically worse season than Des at the moment, but this could be justified given Minnesota’s early struggles. The explosive shooting guard has the potential of becoming a bonafide superstar, which he proved in the 2022 playoffs when he stepped up and led the Timberwolves, being an actual terror for the Grizzlies’ defense.
