Along with being a walking highlight reel, Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant is never afraid to say what’s on his mind. The All-Star point guard recently took to Twitter to defend two fellow stars in the league.

After missing the past few seasons due to injury or other reasons, Klay Thompson and Ben Simmons are back to playing on a nightly basis. However, the two have needed some time to get back to their old selves.

Following their slow starts to the season, many analysts and insiders around the league tried shutting the book on them. However, the two All-Stars are starting to turn the corner.

Earlier this week, Thompson went for 41 points and shot 10-for-13 from beyond the arc in a win over the Rockets. On top of that, Simmons is averaging 16.4 PPG, 7.2 RPG, and 6.2 APG over his last five matchups.

Seeing that the two are playing at a high level again, Ja Morant went on Twitter and called out the national media for being quiet.

Ja Morant picks up win against a familiar rival

As everyone knows, the Memphis Grizzlies selected Ja Morant with the second overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. The only player to come off the board before him is Zion Williamson, who ended up in New Orleans. Given that they are the top two picks of their class, the two have been intertwined.

The Grizzlies and Pelicans squared off again Friday night, but this time Williamson was in the lineup. Ja Morant found himself with a great opportunity to pick up a win against his rival and didn’t let it go to waste.

Memphis couldn’t get the job done the last time they played New Orleans, but Friday night was a different story. This time, they came away victorious by a final score of 132-111.

Ja Morant was one of three Grizzlies to end the night with 20+ points. In 27 minutes of action, he posted a stat line of 23 points, four rebounds, and 11 assists while shooting 50% from the floor. Williamson could not match his draft counterpart, as he finished with 14 points, five rebounds, and four assists.
