Grizzlies vs. Suns prediction and odds for Monday, January 16th (Wager on Memphis)
By Josh Yourish
Saturday’s win makes nine straight for the Grizzlies with Ja Morant in and out of the lineup over that stretch. They’ll go for double-digits today with Ja Morant questionable with a hip injury and facing the last team they lost to back on December 27th, the Phoenix Suns.
Even with the win-streak, Memphis has yet to jump Denver for the top spot in the west, but it’s just a half game back at 29-13.
Phoenix is 21-23 in a truly injury plagued year. The Suns lost to Minnesota on Friday, but help could be coming soon as Chris Paul’s return from his latest injury nears. The Grizzlies will try to avenge their last loss of 2022 out in the desert tonight, so let’s take a look at the odds.
Grizzlies vs. Suns odds spread and total
Grizzlies vs. Suns prediction and pick
The Grizzlies haven’t just been winning games, they’ve been doing it with offensive explosions. They’ve scored over 120 points in each of their last six games and in three of those, they scored over 130. Over the past nine games, which encompasses the entirety of their win-streak, they don’t have the best offensive rating in the NBA, but they do have the fastest pace of play. They’ve decided to speed things up and are learning that very few teams in the NBA can hang with them if they turn the game into a track meet.
Their past six games have been the most drastic change and they’ve gone over the total in all six. For that stretch, they’re playing at by far the fastest according to NBA Advanced Stats. They’ve played with and without Morant in this stretch, so if he misses it isn’t a concern, they’re winning so they won’t change their strategy. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Let’s ride this trend and take the over.
