Coming off the heels of an incredibly disappointing first-round playoff exit at the hands of the Lakers, the Grizzlies enter an offseason with a good amount of room to improve. This team has plenty of solid assets they can use to bring in more talent to the roster.

On the other hand, there are some players who very well could have been traded midseason, or even in this offseason. However, due to their disappointing play this season, trading them for anything meaningful will be rather difficult.

These three players were all incredibly disappointing in 2023 compared to their level of play the season prior. Whether it be due to injury or just flat-out bad play, these guys had a chance to have a big 2023 season and fell short.

Here are three Grizzlies who ruined their trade value with their play in 2023:

3. SG John Konchar

Following his best season yet in 2022, fans were expecting John Konchar to take a bit of a leap in production the following year. However, what they got instead was more “production”, but at a massive cost in Konchar’s efficiency to the point where he was barely touching the floor come playoff time.

Through 72 games played this season, Konchar averaged 5.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game while shooting 43.1% from the field and 33.9% from three on 2.5 attempts. While Konchar saw an increase in points per game, his field goal percentage dropped by 8.4% and his three-point percentage dropped by 7.4%.

Konchar may not have necessarily been a bad player, but considering how solid he looked in 2022 we definitely expected more out of the 26-year-old. Obviously, Konchar was never going to be traded for a star, but he very well could have been shipped off in a package for a solid role-player.

Hopefully, Konchar picks his play back up heading into next season, but for now, moving on from him could be difficult if the Grizzlies wish to get anything sustainable in return.
