Memphis Grizzlies’ target No. 3 – Jae Crowder

How about a reunion in Memphis? Jae Crowder briefly played for the Memphis Grizzlies during the 2019-20 season before being dealt to the Miami Heat mid-season. As the Grizzlies look for a wing defender and some veterans to toss into the locker room, reuniting with the former Golden Eagle makes all the sense in the world.

Crowder would immediately bring more toughness, experience, outside shooting, and defense to Memphis. He’s coming off an odd season where he sat out for a good chunk of the year due to a trade demand, but even when he landed with the Milwaukee Bucks, he did not play much. He has more left in the tank to give, and the Grizzlies could be the spot to help him show it. Crowder has a reputation for being a strong wing defender who will never back down from opposing scorers, and he would be a nice substitute for Brooks.

It’s unclear what Crowder will be seeking financially in free agency this off-season. Given how his 2022-23 season played out, one would think it would not be quite a lot. Crowder could consider a prove-it deal for one year to try and earn a more lucrative deal next off-season, which would be a perfect scenario for the Grizzlies. If they could snag Crowder for cheap, they absolutely should.
