The Memphis Grizzlies have received ample attention this summer with their front-office decisions and splashy transactions. Now, they’ll look to capture more eyes from onlookers with their on-court play, as the club is gearing up for the 2023 NBA Summer League.
This year, the Grizzlies seem to have a bevy of intriguing names gracing their Las Vegas-bound roster. From returning participants to rookie talents, Summer League headman Vitaly Potapenko will have a quality collection of players at his disposal during what is hoped to be a promising run.
With game one slated to commence on July 3, fans may want to familiarize themselves with some of the players who will be seen donning the blue and black threads, and there are three specific individuals they may want to keep an eye on.
3 Grizzlies players to watch during 2023 NBA Summer League
1. Tarik Biberovic (?)
With their 56 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, the Memphis Grizzlies opted to select Bosnian-born forward Tarik Biberovic. Flashing impressive frontcourt scoring potential, the 22-year-old boasted long-range shooting clips of 44.3 percent in 2020-21 and 41.8 percent in 2021-22 before falling back down to earth in 2022-23 with a conversion rate of just 34.8 percent.
His offensive skillset seems to fit the mold for what clubs across the association want at the wing position while his 6-foot-7, 218-pound frame gives him the build to slot in anywhere from the two all the way down to a small-ball four.
Of course, Biberovic’s participation in Vegas this summer is still a bit up in the air, as he is seemingly still awaiting FIBA clearance (per NBA.com) so there’s a chance Grizzlies fans may have to wait to see his on-court abilities in action.
Still, should he be able to lace them up as a member of Vitaly Potapenko’s rotation, he’s a player certainly worth keeping a close eye on.
