3 reasons why Grizzlies must consider reuniting with former franchise centerpiece

1. Another veteran to surround Ja Morant with
Perhaps the biggest objective for the Memphis Grizzlies this offseason has been to add veteran presences to the rotation, with the idea of better surrounding cornerstone Ja Morant with level-headed and established individuals.
Already they seem to have several quality names within their new-look arsenal, with Marcus Smart being depicted as the go-to mentor for the 23-year-old, but it can never hurt to continue stockpiling strong and savvy voices into a title hopeful’s locker room, especially one that sports one of the youngest rosters in the entire league.
Now, do we believe Rudy Gay would help strengthen the team’s image should he return to Grind City? Certainly.
Is he actually someone who can provide quality contributions on the hardwood if called upon? Yes.
However, above all these previously mentioned reasonings for why GM Zach Kleiman should consider signing the veteran is the fact that he could serve as yet another mentor to surround Morant and the rest of the club’s youngsters with.
He already proved to be more than capable of taking on such a role for the surprisingly competitive Jazz team last season.
Perhaps now he could grace his former team with such attributes during what is presumed to be one of the final years of his career.
