Grizzlies big has fans ‘losing their mind’ with recent social media post

Veteran big Steven Adams missed a large portion of the 2022-23 campaign due to a PCL sprain in his right knee, thus leaving a large amount of responsibility on Jaren Jackson Jr.’s shoulders to hold down the frontcourt rotation for the Memphis Grizzlies.
Though expectations heading into 2023-24 were already believed to be that the 30-year-old would be ready to go as soon as opening night, recently the NBPA posted a picture of the center amid an on-court workout on their personal Instagram account that now has onlookers convinced he’s in tip-top shape, and, according to Grind City Media’s Jessica Benson, had the women of Grizzlies Twitter “losing their mind.”
“Steven Adams had a lot of people in their feelings for a variety of ways. I don’t know a better non-objectifying way to say that. But my timeline, I hopped onto formerly known as Twitter.com over the weekend, now X, and this feels like appropriate ‘X content’ because the women of Grizzlies Twitter were losing their mind over this photo of Steven Adams that the NBPA posted,” Benson said.

Benson would continue on to explain that the photo of Adams was from his visit to the NBPA’s “sanctuary over in Spain” where a retreat was hosted to get the “brains and bodies” of attending players in shape.
Spoken with a playful double meaning, the host would close off the segment on Adams by saying that “there will be many people who would love for Steven Adams to look just like that on opening night.”
Tabbed as one of the most underrated players in the game today, Steven Adams was held to just 42 games last year before going down with his season-ending injury.
The big man proved to be quite impactful for the Grizzlies during this span, boasting per-game averages of 8.6 points, 11.5 rebounds (5.1 of which came on the offensive glass), 2.3 assists, and 1.1 blocks while the club ranked third in win percentage (.674), first in offensive rebounding (13.4), first in total rebounding (49.4), first in defensive rating (109.2), and second in net rating (5.4).
Following his PCL sprain, however, Memphis would go on to plummet in each of these aforementioned categories, ranking 13 (.556), 13 (10.3), 15 (43.1), ninth (112.6), and 13 (2.2), respectively.
With what appears to be an incredibly healthy Steven Adams, the hope now is that the Grizzlies will come into the upcoming campaign with their frontcourt fully intact, which will be a major luxury when considering superstar Ja Morant will be sidelined for the first 25 games of the year due to suspension.
