While many may be excited to see Marcus Smart kick off his tenure as a member of the Memphis Grizzlies this coming season, as far as his off-court presence is concerned, the veteran currently finds himself getting absolutely lit up online.

A recently surfaced video originally posted on Instagram by Iam Compton showing the former Boston Celtics guard getting a new tattoo while on an in-flight jet has made its way across social media.

In response to the clip, many Twitter users hit the comment sections calling out Smart for his physical appearance, with one user claiming him to have the form of a person who’s eight weeks pregnant.

Another suggested the Grizzlies guard may have been a little lax on his diet this summer.

One individual went as far as to screenshot the snack selection available on the plain and jokingly suggested that Smart may not possess the willpower to avoid munching.

Though nothing has been mentioned regarding his build by media pundits, reliable sources, and members of the Grizzlies since being traded to the organization back on June 22, this is interestingly not the first time Smart has received flack for his physical appearance this summer.

Back on July 23, the 29-year-old was put on blast by social media users after posting a picture of himself on a golf course in Punta Cana while wearing what many commenters believed to be a surprisingly tight-fitting button-down.

Though he has received quite a bit of notice for his offseason figure, once the regular season comes about the hope is that the bulk of attention will be geared toward his impact as a mentor for polarizing superstar guard Ja Morant as well as how well he fits into head coach Taylor Jenkins’ scheme alongside the aforementioned superstar and reigning Defensive Player of the Year, Jaren Jackson Jr.

Smart finds himself coming into his first year with the Grizzlies fresh off a 2022-23 campaign where he posted averages of 11.5 points, 6.3 assists, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game while helping the Celtics advance to their second straight conference finals appearance.
