3. Isaiah Todd
First up on this list of potentially available ballers is recent offseason acquisition, Isaiah Todd.
The Grizzlies opted to take a chance on the soon-to-be third-year big man back in early July when they offloaded three future second-round picks to the Phoenix Suns (who had attained him in the blockbuster Bradley Beal trade in late-June) for his services and two future first-round pick swaps.
However, despite Memphis’ efforts to add him to their roster this summer, coupled with the fact that he’s still only 21 years old, Kleiman and company should not view him as a player they must protect in the event of an expansion draft.
Throughout his two years in the association, Todd has spent a majority of his time in the development league, suiting up for the Capital City Go Go where he has sported decent averages of 8.9 points and 3.7 rebounds per game.
Unfortunately, even this relatively simple brand of production hasn’t proven capable of translating to the big leagues, as he has averaged a mere 1.6 points and 1.3 rebounds on a lackluster 22.2 percent shooting from the field through 18 regular season games played in the NBA.
The Grizzlies are a team looking to contend in the now, and, though Isaiah Todd may have the potential to one day develop into a quality contributor in the league, he is by no means someone who should be expected to help aid in their immediate goals of pursuing a title and, thus, is highly expendable.
