Grade the trade: Grizzlies land $72 million wing in new trade proposal
By Mark Nilon
The Memphis Grizzlies sport one of the most menacing rosters heading into the 2023-24 campaign with the likes of Jaren Jackson Jr., Desmond Bane, and, once returning from his 25-game suspension, superstar Ja Morant serving as the team’s mainstay talents.
That said, they are far from a perfectly constructed club, and perhaps their most glaring weakness found within the rotation resides at the starting wing position. With the departure of long-tenured starter Dillon Brooks this summer, Taylor Jenkins now finds himself with a void at the starting three spot that he must seek out an answer for prior to the start of the regular season.
Though the simplest solution to this conundrum may be to just look toward promoting talents already residing on the roster, easily the more entertaining course of action would be for GM Zach Kleiman and company to sift through the trade market to acquire a splashy new talent and Cal Durrett of HoopsHabit believes to have constructed the ideal transaction for this latter route.
Trade proposal sends OG Anunoby to the Memphis Grizzlies
The proposed deal reads as follows:
Despite acknowledging just how valuable and efficient Brandon Clarke has been for the Grizzlies since being selected 21 overall back in the 2021 NBA Draft, Durrett ultimately believes that finding a new starting wing may be more important than holding onto the promise that the 26-year-old possesses.
