1. Steven Adams

Recently, Steven Adams has been deemed one of the most underrated players in the entire association, with Bleacher Report’s Grant Hughes even going as far as to place him fifth on his own rankings list.

Without a doubt, his inclusion within such a category is quite just.

For the better part of this offseason, we’ve been quite vocal about just how impactful Adams was during his mere 46 games played in 2022-23.

Prior to going down for the year with an unfortunate PCL sprain, the Grizzlies ranked third in the league in win percentage (.674), first in offensive rebounding (13.4), first in total rebounding (49.4), first in defensive rating (109.2), and second in net rating (5.4).

Without the pivot following his injury-induced removal from the lineup, Memphis’ productivity went completely downhill, and saw exponential decreases in each of these aforementioned categories, as they ranked 13 (.556), 13 (10.3), 15 (43.1), ninth (112.6), and 13 (2.2), respectively.

His return to Jenkins’ starting lineup is something that is being tabbed by those in the know as the team’s “biggest addition” heading into 2023-24 and while his averages of 8.6 points, 11.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.1 blocks on 59.7 percent shooting from last season may not necessarily scream “game changer” on their own, his advanced stats and overall impact on the Grizzlies certainly does.
