This summer, fans have heard plenty of chatter regarding the state of the LA Clippers franchise and what their future intentions are after their past four “all-in” seasons have fallen short of an NBA Championship, let alone even an NBA Finals berth.

From the buzz surrounding Paul George trade rumors to some such as Stephen A. Smith imploring Lawrence Frank and company to consider ending the Kawhi Leonard partnership, the idea of a La La Land implosion has proven to be one loud roar throughout the offseason and, should the team struggle to establish themselves as a legitimate threat early on in the year, by trade deadline time such rumblings are only bound to grow more and more deafening.

If this were to happen, obviously the bigger fish mentioned above would be the attention-grabbing names ball clubs will be looking to acquire, but the Grizzlies may want to consider focusing their attention elsewhere on the roster and pursue a buy-low trade for Franch-native, Nicolas Batum.

Though no longer in his prime, the 34-year-old is still a solid contributor who needs few touches and little attention to make an impact for his team on both ends of the floor.

Since the 2020-21 season, Batum finds himself sporting averages of 7.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.8 assists on 39.8 percent shooting from distance while boasting a sound defensive box plus-minus rating of +1.5.

Despite this productivity, his name being mentioned within the trade rumor mill is by no means a foreign sight, and, being they have some seriously lacking depth at their wing position, the Grizzlies should strongly consider monitoring the veteran’s availability status this year.
