Grizzlies star Jaren Jackson Jr. avoids questions on recent foul troubles

Jaren Jackson Jr. may have come into the 2023 FIBA World Cup attached to high praise from his Team USA cohorts, but the Memphis Grizzlies star has certainly struggled with his game when found participating in in-game action since the tournament’s official tip-off on August 26.
Despite being a two-time All-Defensive First Team selection and the NBA’s reigning Defensive Player of the Year, to the surprise of many the 23-year-old has faired rather poorly on the less glamorous side of the ball during meaningful play during the festivities, and has collected fouls as if they’re going out of style.
Recently, Jackson put forth a miserable showing during what wound up being the first loss of the World Cup for the United States, as he registered three points, one rebound, and a whopping five fouls during their shocking 110-104 loss to Lithuania on September 3.
Following the contest, when asked by reporters whether he disagreed with the early whistle-blowing that was heard in his direction, the star big seemingly sidestepped the question and, subsequently, took a bit of the focus off of his struggles.

"“It doesn’t matter. They played really well. It really doesn’t matter.” Jackson said. “They made everything. They made shots. When you play well, it’s hard to beat a team that plays well.”"
Fortunately, Team USA managed to bounce back from their loss to Lithuania with a triumphant victory over Italy on September 5, besting them by a final score of 100-63.
Unfortunately, however, Jackson’s slap-happy ways continued to shine through even during the route, as he would go on to post a mere two points and three rebounds in just under 11 minutes played after picking up two quick personal fouls to kick off the bout.
As noted, these struggles have been highlighted by both media pundits and even specific members of the US club.
Moving forward, the hope is the Grizzlies star can work through these miscues as he and his teammates look to bring home gold.
