They put together an exciting young core led by Ja Morant and could further shake things up in trying to build a title contender around him. The 24-year-old must avoid off-court distractions, but the sky is the limit for Morant and the Grizzlies.
Jaren Jackson Jr. won Defensive Player of the Year in 2023 and Desmond Bane is on track to become an All-Star. Memphis will survive Morant’s suspension, especially after adding Marcus Smart, but is the former Celtic replacing Dillon Brooks enough to help them make a deep playoff run? The Grizzlies should be focused on winning a championship and building toward that goal.
There will be changes over the next half-decade, but the Grizzlies should have three starters locked in. What pieces fit best around their core? In 2028, their stars will be in the middle of their primes and want to be contenders. What pieces do they need to bring the title to Grind City?

Morant is already a two-time All-Star and one of the best point guards in the league. He is an elite athlete with a lightning first step and the ability to blow past any defender. The 6’3 guard is a joy to watch and a superstar for the next decade if he can stay out of trouble.
He will be 28 in five years and right in the middle of his prime. If Morant can improve his jumper, he could become unstoppable. It could push him over 30 points per game and make him one of the top five players in the world.
The Memphis Grizzlies will be building around Ja Morant over the next five years. They will be searching for complementary pieces that lift the team into title contention.
