Throughout the past several years, the Memphis Grizzlies have managed to cultivate quite an impressive collection of young and promising talents with a sensational amount of upside. From established All-Stars such as Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr. to rising studs such as Desmond Bane, this team boasts one of the deepest and most formidable rosters in the entire association.

That said, along with these hits the front office has also seen a number of misses who wound up seeing short-lived stints in Grind City as well.

One of said brief residents in Jontay Porter has recently popped back up in the news cycle after a two-year-long hiatus from logging minutes at the NBA level, as he has officially agreed to terms with the Detroit Pistons on an Exhibit 10 deal with the Detroit Pistons, as per James L. Edwards III of The Athletic.

Former Grizzlies big Jontay Porter lands Exhibit 10 deal with the Detroit Pistons

Going undrafted in the 2019 NBA draft, Porter signed a multi-year deal back in 2020 with the Grizzlies.

The former Missouri standout spent the majority of his time in Memphis playing for their G League affiliate team, the Hustle, where he put forth averages of 7.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game.

He would also see 11 games of action with the varsity team, where he posted 2.0 points and 1.3 rebounds per contest.

Unfortunately, his stint in the 38103 wound up being short-lived, as he was waived by the Grizzlies in July of 2021.

Since then he has only seen action at the developmental stage, as he played in 17 games for the Wisconson Herd during the 2022-23 season where he posted averages of 11.5 points, 11.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 2.6 blocks.

With these efforts, Porter has worked his way back toward landing an official NBA contract, along with a guaranteed training camp invite with the Pistons.

He heads to Motor City to hopefully win a spot on a young and promising roster that already consists of rising stars Cade Cunningham and Jaden Ivey as well as recently selected lottery talents Ausar Thompson, James Wiseman, and Killian Hayes.
