Following their thrilling overtime victory over the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday night to begin their five-game homestand, the Memphis Grizzlies face the New York Knicks tonight. The 299 points scored by the Grizzlies and Suns 151-148 final represented the highest combined score in a game in franchise history, and the highest single-game score by a Grizzlies opponent ever.
Now, the Grizzlies face the team that handed them their worst loss of the season a month ago in Madison Square Garden. That game saw the Grizzlies lose by 37 points with a score of 143-106 and marked the most turnovers (26), fast break points given up (31), and paint points given up (70) in a game this season by the team.
While the Knicks will enter this contest at full strength after announcing Mitchell Robinson will make his season debut, the Grizzlies have a couple of their own on the injury report after a clean slate in their last two games.
Desmond Bane is available to play against the Knicks
While Desmond Bane has missed 11 of the Grizzlies' 58 games this season, he has only missed three games since the calendar flipped to 2025. Coming off a 25-point, nine-assist performance against the Suns, Bane was listed on the injury report with groin soreness yesterday after practicing in a limited fashion.
However, Desmond Bane will give it a go against the New York Knicks as the Grizzlies are trying to fight off the Denver Nuggets to keep the two-seed in the Western Conference standings. Bane will look to rebound from a 16-point, six-turnover performance against the Knicks in their blowout defeat last month.
GG Jackson is ruled out against the Knicks
GG Jackson was a late addition to the injury report, being added to it roughly four hours before game time with corneal inflammation. Like with most players added to the report the day of the game, GG Jackson is ruled out of tonight's revenge game against the Knicks.
GG Jackson had been available to play every game since his return from foot surgery on January 20th, but his role diminished in recent games. He totaled zero points, one rebound, and four assists in only 12 minutes played in their last two games combined.
While coach Taylor Jenkins has played more of a nine-man rotation in the team's last two games, expect more of the same but with either Marvin Bagley III or Lamar Stevens to get some run for depth purposes. Neither player has played relevant minutes (Bagley played two garbage time minutes vs the Indiana Pacers) since being acquired by Memphis.
