This has been an exciting and busy offseason for the Grizzlies full of constant plot twists. Now, the Grizzlies just offered restricted free agent Quinten Post a three-year, $30 million deal, which the Warriors have until tomorrow night to match. Before diving into the details, this is bold by the Grizzlies and the latest move to continue an enormous frontcourt overhaul this summer.

Quinten Post was selected 52nd overall in the 2024 NBA Draft out of Boston College and could give the Grizzlies more depth behind Zach Edey. Post had a strong rookie season, averaging 8.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.3 assists, while shooting 40.8% from three. At 26 years old, Post has earned himself a solid contract and could end up being another reliable frontcourt piece in Memphis.

This is certainly a gamble by the Grizzlies

While Quinten Post made a strong defensive improvement this season, his three-point percentage fell to 33.6%, and his role diminished significantly after the Warriors acquired Kristaps Porzingis. Post ended the season averaging 7.7 points, 4 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 67 games while also making 35 starts. Post should end up being solid depth and could give the offense a strong spark.

Before this, the Grizzlies selected Cam Boozer and Karim Lopez in the 2026 NBA Draft and also made multiple frontcourt trades, trading for Isaiah Stewart and then sending Santi Aldama to the Mavericks. Probably the biggest takeaway from this offseason is how much the Grizzlies have significantly overhauled the frontcourt around Zach Edey.

However, the offer sheet for Post is likely the boldest move yet. In fairness, the remaining center market isn't that strong, but Post is definitely getting a better offer than expected. It is also a bit surprising to see the Grizzlies offering Post, who should be projected as their third center, $10 million a season. On the flip side, it can be argued that the Grizzlies have great frontcourt depth, and Post isn't done improving.

Regardless of any concerns with contract value, the Grizzlies could be adding a solid player to what should be a very promising frontcourt for the foreseeable future.

Warriors' LeBron pursuit makes Warriors less likely to match

Probably the biggest remaining storyline of this offseason is where LeBron James will end up signing. The Warriors have been strongly linked to LeBron this offseason, and their pursuit could mean that they don't match the offer sheet for Quinten Post.

Even without considering the LeBron pursuit, this is a pretty strong offer for Post as a restricted free agent. It is difficult to envision the Warriors matching, despite the Warriors' need for more depth behind Al Horford and Kristaps Porzingis. But now that the Warriors have recently emerged as one of the frontrunners for LeBron, it increases the likelihood that Quinten Post ends up in Memphis.

This has been a busy offseason in Memphis and one full of surprises. The Quinten Post offer sheet is a bit of a shock and is understandably seen by some as an overpay. However, it is understandable that the Grizzlies are banking on the 26-year-old to make another leap if he ends up joining.
