Grizzlies face a simple decision if Cam Boozer is available at the #3 pick

Drafting Boozer makes way too much sense for the Grizzlies.

The Grizzlies are almost guaranteed to come away with a franchise-altering player at the #3 pick regardless of who they pick. Some debates have already started about whether the Grizzlies should select Cam Boozer or Caleb Wilson 3rd overall. While both are strong options, Cam Boozer is a very logical fit for the Grizzlies, and the team does not need to overthink it on draft night.

Grizzlies fans should be encouraged by the fact that players such as Darryn Peterson, Cam Boozer, and Caleb Wilson should all potentially be in play at #3. If the draft were to happen today, it is likely that AJ Dybantsa would go #1 to the Wizards and Darryn Peterson would also go #2 to the Jazz. With this in mind, the Grizzlies should feel comfortable selecting Cam Boozer if available at #3.

The Grizzlies will likely face an obvious choice at #3

Sam Vecenie and Kevin O'Connor discussed who the better fit is between Caleb Wilson and Cam Boozer next to Zach Edey. Vecenie went with Boozer and even had him in a different tier than Caleb Wilson. Despite having Wilson in a similar tier to what graded Dylan Harper in last year's draft, Vecenie had Boozer "a tick higher" than Wilson and Harper.

With how well Dylan Harper has performed as a rookie for an extremely promising Spurs team, those words only add to the excitement level surrounding Boozer and Memphis. A healthy Grizzlies team could potentially make the Play-In Tournament next season with a good 2026 NBA Draft and other corresponding moves. Regardless, Boozer should shave significant time off the Grizzlies' rebuild.

Both O'Connor and Vecenie were in agreement that Boozer is the better prospect than Wilson. Even if Wilson ends up developing into the ideal fit next to Edey, it would be wise for the Grizzlies to take the more proven player right now. Boozer has an extremely polished offensive game that should immediately translate despite some valid concerns about his defense at the next level.

While Caleb Wilson clearly possesses significant upside, it seems odd to not believe Cam Boozer is also a high-upside guy despite being younger than Wilson. Even though one of the main talking points surrounding the two prospects is athleticism, Boozer still tested well at the NBA Draft Combine in agility drills and had the ideal measurements for a future NBA power forward.

Both players clearly have what it takes to significantly elevate the franchise; however, the Grizzlies should easily select Cam Boozer if he is available at #3. With the Grizzlies roster already having Cedric Coward and Zach Edey, Boozer would help to round out one of the more intriguing young cores in the league.
