We are almost two weeks away from the Grizzlies making their selections in a strong 2026 NBA Draft. Regardless of the outcome at the #3 pick, Grizzlies fans have plenty to be excited about heading into next season. Sam Vecenie did a new mock draft based on his latest intel, and Grizzlies fans should be thrilled if his intel comes true on draft night.

Almost all the focus here will be on Cam Boozer, but the Grizzlies ended up selecting Boozer at #3 and Texas Tech's Christian Anderson Jr. at #16 in Vecenie's mock. That is an extremely exciting haul for a Grizzlies team looking to get back in playoff contention very soon. Building a defensive team that resonates with grit and grind matters, but so does having a strong halfcourt offense.

The Grizzlies also selected Zuby Ejiofor using the 32nd overall pick to round out a strong class on paper. Given Zach Kleiman's history of draft trades, it still remains very likely that the Grizzlies don't stay put at all three picks. However, Vecenie's new intel should not just erase any questions about the Grizzlies staying at #3, but they should also likely have their dream fit in Cam Boozer available.

Boozer is simply the dream outcome for the fanbase

The Grizzlies will likely have a choice between Darryn Peterson or Cam Boozer at #3, but all signs point to Boozer being available at #3. Probably the most telling (and likely obvious) piece of intel that Vecenie gave out is that he would be stunned if the Grizzlies passed on him at #3. Cam Boozer and the Memphis Grizzlies are a perfect match, and we are inching closer to getting it.

Vecenie talked about how Boozer ticks all the boxes that the Grizzlies have looked for under Zach Kleiman. He also described Boozer as "almost prototypical of what Memphis wants to build around" as they enter a new era. At least in Vecenie's eyes, a prototypical Grizzlies pick under Kleiman possesses a strong basketball IQ and is productive for their age. That describes Cam Boozer.

Questions about Boozer's athleticism and defense at the next level will continue to be major talking points, but Boozer's offensive game should give him an immediate path to NBA success. It also helps that he will get to play with other strong emerging talents such as Cedric Coward and Zach Edey.

There are always valid concerns with any draft prospect, but the Grizzlies have a much higher chance at landing a potential franchise cornerstone with a top 3 pick compared to the 6-10 range. The pressure will be enormous, but Boozer's pedigree and production at such a young age should serve him well as he adapts to the NBA.

The next month will likely be a chaotic time for Grizzlies fans, but the dream of getting Cam Boozer in a Grizzlies jersey is very close to materializing.
