Now wouldn't this be something? Grizzlies fans have been talking about many different scenarios for the 2026 NBA Draft. This one mock draft scenario would completely change the trajectory of the Grizzlies' franchise.
FanSided's Christopher Kline just did a pre-March Madness 2026 NBA Mock Draft, and it could not have gone any better for the Grizzlies. With the 3rd pick of the 2026 NBA Draft, the Memphis Grizzlies select Cameron Boozer, the talented freshman out of Duke. FanSided has Boozer as their #1 prospect despite AJ Dybantsa and Darryn Peterson being selected earlier in the mock.
Boozer is as pro-ready as it gets offensively
One of the reasons that Cam Boozer is so special is the variety of ways that he has to score. He is ultra-efficient in every play type, whether it is pick-and-roll, post-ups, or even transition opportunities. It is rare to see such a well-rounded scoring attack from a freshman draft prospect. Boozer has easily been the best player in college basketball this season regardless of levels of competition.
Even though this draft class is loaded, Boozer stands out due to his advanced offensive feel, and he can impact the game in a multitude of ways beyond scoring. For the season, Boozer is averaging 22.6 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists in 32.5 minutes per game. Boozer brings special scoring and playmaking abilities that should make him have an immediate NBA impact.
An Edey and Boozer frontcourt would be a matchup nightmare
Despite there being some defensive concerns about Cam Boozer on the defensive end, he is a perfect fit next to Zach Edey. Before Edey went down with his injury in December, he was starting to establish himself as one of the best rim protectors in the NBA. Edey had surgery this week to deal with his ongoing left ankle issues but should make a full recovery by training camp this fall.
It is impossible not to get excited about a Boozer and Edey frontcourt. Boozer should be able to make an offensive impact right away, and Edey should continue defending at an elite level once he returns. Boozer also proved earlier in the season against Michigan's loaded frontcourt that he won't be bothered by NBA athletes. Edey and Boozer as a duo would immediately cause the NBA significant problems with their strengths and ability to cover each other's weaknesses.
If Cam Boozer is somehow available for the Grizzlies, the team will take him in a heartbeat. Beyond film, Boozer's statistical profile fits the Grizzlies' analytical approach. Even though the Grizzlies are starting a rebuild, drafting Boozer would guarantee them an essential franchise cornerstone and significantly speed up any rebuild efforts.
The bottom line is that Grizzlies fans should hope that this scenario comes true. This loaded draft should guarantee the Grizzlies land multiple talented players, but drafting Cam Boozer would take the franchise to new heights.
