The Grizzlies have struggled significantly in the month of February. They have lost six of their last seven games and are 3-6 for the month. Things are just simply not going well for the Grizzlies as of late. To make matters worse, the Grizzlies are facing a Warriors team that they have lost five straight games to, going back to last season.

Just a couple days ago, the Grizzlies lost to a Kings team that was previously on a 16-game losing streak. Despite the Kings also being shorthanded, the Grizzlies were unable to overcome their lack of available centers and got dominated in the paint.

While there have been some pleasant surprises on offense from players like Javon Small and Olivier-Maxence Prosper, the Grizzlies simply don't have the available personnel to get enough rebounds and defensive stops.

The Warriors continue to haunt the Grizzlies

Last season, the Grizzlies won by an astonishing 51 points against the Warriors on December 19, 2024. The most shocking part of the game beyond the margin of victory was that Steph Curry was held to just two points, largely with rookie Jaylen Wells being his primary defender. Despite that win being so impressive at the time, the Grizzlies haven't beaten the Warriors since.

It is well documented that the Grizzlies have struggled on the road against the Warriors in recent seasons, but the Warriors also won the last meeting in Memphis on April 1, 2025, early in Tuomas Iisalo's stint as the interim head coach. Two weeks later, the Grizzlies ended up losing their Play-In Tournament matchup to the Warriors at Chase Center, 121-116, in an absolute heartbreaker.

So far this season, the Grizzlies have lost both matchups to the Warriors at Chase Center. The circumstances were wildly different in both matchups, as the Grizzlies had Ja Morant and now-former Grizzly Jaren Jackson Jr. available for the first game. In the second matchup, Steph Curry was not available for the Warriors, but the Grizzlies also had a diminished roster following the trade deadline.

The Grizzlies have an opportunity to reverse their fortunes

While the Grizzlies will continue to be haunted by their lack of size in the near future, the Warriors have not exactly played inspiring basketball since Steph Curry got injured. Already without Jimmy Butler for the rest of the season, the Warriors have struggled offensively. Despite the Grizzlies' brutal loss to the Kings, the Warriors are playing their second game of a back-to-back and coming off a difficult defeat to the 14th-seed New Orleans Pelicans.

The Grizzlies put together a very strong performance at Chase Center for three quarters on February 9 but ended up blowing a double-digit fourth-quarter lead. It would not be surprising if the Grizzlies jump out to an early lead, but they will have to find a way to play a complete four quarters. Even with the 2026 NBA Draft in mind, this is an exciting opportunity for the Grizzlies to end a losing streak against a tricky opponent like the Warriors.
