Ja Morant is now set to miss at least two more weeks before being re-evaluated again for his left UCL sprain. Morant was in the process of ramping up before the All-Star break but was still experiencing discomfort, further delaying his return. Once again, his return is delayed, and there are more questions to be asked about Morant's future.

This latest update guarantees that Ja Morant will have missed more than half of this season. Going back to the start of the 2023-24 season, Morant has only appeared in 79 regular season games due to suspension and injuries. Morant remains very talented, but the lack of availability in recent seasons has been a huge problem for a Grizzlies team trying to win more games.

His Grizzlies future still remains very much in doubt

Even though the Grizzlies were fielding offers for Morant before this year's trade deadline, a deal did not materialize. Instead, Jaren Jackson Jr. was the one traded despite all the Morant rumors. Morant's last appearance was on January 21, in which he ended up suffering a left elbow UCL sprain in the home loss against the Atlanta Hawks. With Morant's re-evaluation date being in two more weeks, time is slowly running out on him playing again this season.

It is a growing possibility that Ja Morant might not play another game this season. Morant would likely have a ramp-up period similar to the one before the All-Star break and would have to be free of discomfort. It looks like Morant will return at the very tail end of the schedule or not at all.

With the Grizzlies committing to a rebuild, they will be listening to offers again this summer. Due to injuries and inconsistency, Morant's value is at the lowest it has ever been. One of the best ways for Morant to have recouped some value was to return and have a strong end to the season. However, time is running out on him regaining any trade value.

Ja Morant is one of the most talented players to wear a Grizzlies jersey, but the latest update only adds to the likelihood of his time in Memphis ending soon. Morant at his best is still an electrifying player, but he has not played enough for an extension to make sense.

The best course of action for both parties will likely be to part ways. Today's update only adds to the fact that the Grizzlies need to be fully in on their new rebuild. Ja Morant will also likely benefit from a fresh start elsewhere. Regardless, things are headed towards a sad ending for Morant's time in Memphis.
