There is rightfully plenty of hype surrounding Cam Boozer before his rookie season and widespread belief that he's capable of winning Rookie of the Year. Jaylen Wells certainly seems to be a big believer in what Boozer can be in Memphis, and Grizzlies fans should love the loud message he sent.

Jaylen Wells was asked by Mark Haynes about if he believed Cam Boozer could end winning Rookie of the Year, and he had the following to say:

“Yeah, yeah, I think he’s a superstar; he can do it all. For his size and how young he is, it’s amazing to see what he can do on the floor, and I’m excited to play with him.” - Jaylen Wells

Grizzlies fans have already taken notice of the kind of upside Cam Boozer possesses, and it's clearly being noticed by the players. Jaylen Wells had a strong rookie season and ended up making the All-Rookie First-Team despite being selected 39th overall in the 2024 NBA Draft. Wells has been a solid find for the Grizzlies and should continue to get better.

Wells had a bit of an inconsistent second season, but he's in the ideal spot to emerge as a leader early in the rebuild and continue to establish himself as a key piece in Memphis. Wells has played with plenty of talented young players such as Cedric Coward, Zach Edey, and GG Jackson II, but it wouldn't be surprising if Cam Boozer ends up being the superstar Grizzlies fans desperately want.

Selected third overall, Cam Boozer looked just as advertised during Summer League and looks ready to be one of the best rookies in the 2026 class. There are other players worthy of praise, such as AJ Dybantsa, Caleb Wilson, and Darryn Peterson, but it looks like the Grizzlies may have found the guy to lead their rebuild.

The Grizzlies already have promising pieces in Cedric Coward and Zach Edey, but adding Cam Boozer to the mix makes their young core one of the most intriguing in the league. If Cam Boozer proves Jaylen Wells right early on, it could be an extremely short rebuild for the Grizzlies.

Of course, there is more to be done as far as roster construction goes, and Tuomas Iisalo will have to continue making adjustments as a coach. But for year one of a rebuild, the Grizzlies should love the spot that they're in right now.

All the signs point to the Grizzlies having found a potential superstar, and Jaylen Wells certainly seems to believe that's the case. Expect Cam Boozer to make a strong push for Rookie of the Year and establish himself as one of the most promising players in the whole league.
