We are just one more day away from one of the most important drafts in franchise history for the Grizzlies. Despite some recent talk of Cam Boozer being selected second overall by the Utah Jazz, Jeremy Woo did a new mock draft, and his latest intel at the third overall pick should excite Grizzlies fans. It looks like the Cam Boozer to Memphis dream is one step closer to coming true.

The Wizards will likely make a decision between AJ Dybantsa and Darryn Peterson at the first overall pick, but the signs point to Dybantsa being the selection. While it can't fully be ruled out that the Jazz would end up selecting Boozer over whoever falls between Peterson and Dybantsa, the logical signs point to Cam Boozer falling to #3.

Woo wrote, "Although he is under consideration in Utah, where his father is part of the front office, rival teams believe the Jazz will have a hard time passing on Dybantsa or Peterson." That update is a very good sign for all the fans that want to see Cam Boozer in a Grizzlies jersey. When considering player fits, it makes sense as to why Utah would prefer to select Peterson or Dybantsa at #2.

This stage of the draft cycle is always chaotic when it comes to intel and smokescreens, but it's starting to look like Boozer will fall to #3 as originally expected by many after the draft lottery.

Boozer brings the best immediate fit to the Grizzlies

Even though one Darryn Peterson or AJ Dybantsa falling to the Grizzlies would still be a great outcome, Boozer fits very well immediately and has the skillset to form an elite frontcourt duo with Zach Edey. Boozer's freshman season at Duke was one of the most productive in recent memory, and he brings an offensive skillset that should end up translating right away.

That is not to discount what AJ Dybantsa and Darryn Peterson are capable of doing. I believe both players have a clear path to stardom and can end up becoming elite scorers for their respective teams. But it can also be argued that Boozer's upside is being downplayed despite being the youngest of the top 3 projected picks.

There are legitimate concerns about Boozer's vertical pop and how well he defends at the next level, but he should end up being a high-level offensive engine right away. Boozer brings quality playmaking and is capable of scoring out of multiple play types. His strength is extremely impressive at a young age, and he will bring quality paint-scoring and tenacious rebounding next to Zach Edey from Day 1.

The Grizzlies hold picks #3, #16, and #32, which should give them an exciting opportunity to speed up their rebuild. Heading into tomorrow, it looks like the main piece of the draft puzzle will be Cam Boozer becoming a Grizzly at the third overall pick. In what should be a strong 2026 NBA Draft, the Grizzlies will likely start with the pick the fans want to hear at #3.
