2024 NBA Mock Draft: Grizzlies add key piece in lottery, Pistons get future star
By Tyler Watts
22. New Orleans Pelicans choose Tristan da Silva
The Colorado senior just continues to improve. Through 13 games, he is averaging 16.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.0 steal in 31.5 minutes per game. The 6’8 forward is shooting 52.9 percent from the field, 39.1 percent on his threes, and 81.3 percent from the foul line. He is a connector, who should be ready for a role quickly in the NBA.
Da Silva turns 23 before draft night and is not an elite athlete. He has a high basketball IQ and gets others involved. The 6’8 forward makes his teammates better but does not have a massive ceiling. Da Silva could become a starter and key contributor, but he will not be a superstar.
There are questions about his defense and ability to switch. He has the size but lacks the athletic ability to consistently guard on the perimeter. Consider him more of a combo forward, and he will need to add weight to consistently check big men in the NBA.
The New Orleans Pelicans could use him as a backup for Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram. They need floor spacers, and da Silva has made 38.1 percent of his 291 NCAA 3-point attempts. New Orleans can expand his role as his game improves.
