Hornets vs. Grizzlies NBA expert prediction and odds for Wednesday, March 13 (Bet on Grizz)
By Peter Dewey
Two of the worst teams in the NBA will square off on Wednesday night in Memphis when the Charlotte Hornets travel to face the Memphis Grizzlies.
This is the second night of a back-to-back for the Grizz, who played the Washington Wizards on Tuesday and picked up a 12-point win at home behind 24 points from Trey Jemison.
Meanwhile, Charlotte lost outright to the Detroit Pistons – by double digits – on Monday night. This Hornets team has been awful on the road this season (7-26 straight up), and it still is down key players like Mark Williams and LaMelo Ball.
Can we trust the Hornets against a Memphis team that has been tough to bet on at home?

Hornets vs. Grizzlies key players to watch
Charlotte Hornets
Brandon Miller: The No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft has been one of the lone bright spots for Charlotte, as he’s averaging 17.0 points per game while shooting 44.0 percent from the field and 37.1 percent from 3. He’s averaging 21.4 points per game over his last five matchups.
Memphis Grizzlies
GG Jackson II: There have been some growing pains for rookie GG Jackson II, but he did score 30 points against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday. Jackson can fill it up when called upon, but there are going to be some rough shooting nights mixed in (4-for-15 earlier this month against Portland). If he has a big game, the Grizz should roll.
Hornets vs. Grizzlies prediction and pick
There isn’t a single team in the NBA with a worse against the spread record on the road than the Hornets, who are just 12-21 ATS in that spot.
While Memphis has been brutal at home (11-12 ATS as a home dog, 2-8 ATS as a home favorite), the team could be in line to cover in this one.
Charlotte – like the Grizzlies – is severely banged up, and the team’s offense runs through ball-dominant players like Miles Bridges and Brandon Miller. We’ve seen the Grizz hang close with contenders despite having a short-handed roster, so why can’t they compete with one of the league’s worst teams?
The Grizzlies still outrank the Hornets in net rating – Charlotte is dead last in the NBA in that category. Even though the Grizz have just eight wins at home all season, I think they can get one tonight as a slight underdog.
