With the 2024 NBA Summer League concluded and the fanfare surrounding the Olympics now complete, all eyes will be turning to the impending NBA 2024-2025 season set to begin in October.

After a relatively quiet and inconspicuous summer, the Memphis Grizzlies will find themselves looking to rebound and return to their form from the 2022-2023 NBA season where they secured the second seed in the Western Conference and their second consecutive Southwest Division Championship.

Despite a brutal previous campaign, the Grizzlies have managed to retool their roster to best set themselves up for success and to successfully contend amongst teams that are constantly improving.

With the re-signing of key pieces such as Luke Kennard, the drafting of college phenom Zach Edey, and the continued refinement of essential players such as superstar point guard Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr, Memphis will look to trend upwards and return to championship contention.

With that being said, the Grizzlies, in their entirety, are still a young team overall despite being anchored by veterans, and key players in the starting lineup undoubtedly have aspects and skills that they still need to hone to best help the club's success.

Areas each core Grizzlies player can improve upon in 2024-25

Ja Morant: Conducting a balanced offense

After missing the vast majority of the 2023-2024 season, rising superstar point guard Ja Morant will have his hands full learning to best capitalize on the newly retooled Grizzlies offensive pieces which he will inevitably find himself orchestrating.

As an already prolific passer, Morant will find himself relying both on familiar assets on the team as well as brand new avenues for success.

While conducting the floor, Morant will have a variety of options to look to: Drawing defenses away and kicking the ball out to a shooter such as Marcus Smart or Luke Kennard, or finding lob threats in the paint such as Jaren Jackson Jr and Zach Edey.

Additionally, with the surge of young wing talent on the team such as G.G. Jackson, Morant will reliably have options to pick apart the opponent's defensive scheme.

Morant is heading into his sixth season and will be looking to balance his duties on the offensive end facilitating to other teammates while also finding his own spots to flourish.

After averaging 8.1 assists during the 2022-2023 season, the former second-overall pick will look to stack his counting stats even higher as the sheer number of lob targets will give him ample opportunity.

While Morant will first and foremost need to return to form after missing the majority of last season, Grizzlies fans should be optimistic that their explosive young point guard will bring the exact brand of tenacity the team desperately needs to stand out in the West.
