1. Los Angeles Lakers

Playing devil's advocate, in contrast to the point made about sabotaging the Rockets, there's a strong argument to be made that playing a role in the demise of Los Angeles could be even more satisfying, for not only would it be cause for celebration from the fanbase but, also, the franchise.

Over the last few years, the Grizzlies have seemingly become a direct rival of the Lakers, as they represent the younger team coming in to surpass the elders in the title contention conversation.

Though it's a certainty that Memphis will not be vying for the Larry O'Brien Trophy this season due to their slew of injuries, it's also rather apparent that even with their fully healthy, star-studded roster, neither will LA.

Memphis putting them out of their misery could be both humane and humiliating, and they could have a chance to do this during their final two matchups on the year.

Over these last 13 games for Los Angeles, more than half will see opponents with superior records to them.

Should their recent slump continue on and the Grizzlies find a way to recreate the magic that led them to a 127-113 win in their last encounter, LeBron James and co. could be in serious trouble and, due to the competitiveness of the Western Conference playoff race, at risk of missing out on the playoffs altogether.

Memphis preventing the team who eliminated them from last year's postseason from claiming so much as a Play-In Tournament berth in 2024 could be one of the best and more entertaining things to happen to Grind City's fanbase all season long.
