The Memphis Grizzlies have seen the vast majority of their core players go down due to various health-related issues this season, but it seems that one currently sidelined star is hinting that he could soon find his way back to the rotation.

Desmond Bane has been held out for nearly two months now due to a grueling Grade 3 ankle sprain sustained during the club's January 12 matchup against the LA Clippers.

Recently, an update was provided on his rehabilitation status, noting that while the guard is "progressing well," he is still "3-5 weeks" away from being reintroduced to any in-game action.

While there seems to be no official word on whether a return is expected to be closer to the five-week or three-week mark, Bane himself seems to be dropping hints that it could be leaning more toward the latter as he posted a story to his personal Instagram account of him in his Grizzlies attire accompanied by an hourglass emoji.

Needless to say, this image quickly made its way to some of the franchise's faithful followers which, in turn, sparked much speculation over the exact meaning behind the post.

Grizzlies star Desmond Bane drops cryptic message hinting at return

While the post may stir up some serious excitement among the fanbase, as he's clearly one of the team's best players and can provide a serious boost to their rotation, some have gone on to question the reasoning for his return at all considering Memphis (22-41) is a mere month and change away from closing out this lottery-bound campaign.

Prior to going down with the ankle injury, Bane was producing at career high levels nearly all across the board, sporting impressive averages of 24.4 points, 5.3 assists, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.0 steals while shooting 47.4 percent from the field and 38.4 percent from distance.

Whether Bane makes a return to the floor this season or not, considering their lowly record and lackluster rank down at the 13 spot in the Western Conference standings the Grizzlies are all but certain to go postseason-less for the first time in four years come the conclusion of 2023-24.

Regardless of this, however, adding the 25-year-old into the mix could bring a sense of excitement back to the fanbase that hasn't been felt for months now and could perhaps remind onlookers of just how promising the future of this Memphis organization truly is when they're at full strength.
