The Memphis Grizzlies came into the 2024 NBA Draft in need of center help and, with the ninth overall selection, it appears they left it with exactly that, as they opted to snatch up 7-foot-4 behemoth, Zach Edey, out of Purdue.

Though some fans had hoped to see the franchise snatch up UConn standout pivot Donovan Clingan or even sharpshooter Dalton Knecht out of Tennessee, GM Zach Kleiman's decision to take the 22-year-old has the makings of a perfect choice for the franchise.

Already, Edey's addition has seemingly received the stamp of approval from one of Memphis' star cornerstones, as stud shooting guard Desmond Bane issued an exciting two-word message on his personal X account in reaction to the pick.

Bane, of course, wasn't the only member of the Grizzlies organization to share their enthusiasm about the big man's arrival to Grind City, as superstar Ja Morant re-posted the guard's message on his own personal account while Edey's new frontcourt runningmate, Jaren Jackson Jr., posted a message of three saluting emojis.

The center comes into the NBA attached to an illustrious resume, as he has earned two AP Player of the Year awards, two Big-10 All-Defensive Team selections, and set the Purdue record for most points scored in a career with 2,516 throughout his four-year stint.

This past season, Edey went on to post astounding averages of 25.2 points, 12.2 rebounds (4.6 offensive), and 2.2 blocks while shooting 62.3 percent from the floor all en route to his second-straight Player of the Year and, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award.

Adding someone of his ilk to this title-hungry and center-needy rotation could go on to allow the Grizzlies to play a similar brand of basketball to when they had the similarly skilled Steven Adams manning the pivot while they were embarking on deep playoff runs and winning 107 total regular season games over a two-year span.
