Wednesday night, the Memphis Grizzlies added another game into the win column with an impressive triumph over the Detroit Pistons.
Despite it objectively being a cellar-dweller affair between two of the worst teams in the entire association, for Grind City nation it was a tremendous 48-minute showing from their favorite ball club and, in turn, another step toward making the prediction of December being a "good" month become a reality.
Though, ultimately, their 116-102 victory was the result of an overall team effort, rising star Desmond Bane was unequivocally Memphis' top dog, leading the team in not only points (49, a career-best) but assists (8) as well.
After his astounding performance and following an on-court ice-water shower from his teammates, the guard was asked in an interview about his offseason regiment and if he feels his work during this time has played a role in his career-best season thus far.
In response, Bane provided a strong statement highlighting that what has ultimately helped hone his craft has been the increased opportunities he's received so far this regular season.
Desmond Bane dishes on overall play following Grizzlies win vs Pistons
"[I'm] just trying to become a more complete player, being able to play-make and score from all areas of the floor. That wins games and with players being out I've had more of an opportunity to continue to grow and it's been good for me."Desmond Bane
Bane would wrap up his interview by telling Grizzlies fans that the team owes it to them to keep winning, noting that they haven't been at their best this year but said: "We're going to be better, I promise you that."
Despite the team's rather lowly record of 6-14, the 25-year-old finds himself amid a career-best campaign, as he's posting tremendous averages of 25.1 points, 5.4 assists, 4.5 rebounds, 1.4 steals, and just shy of a block while shooting 46.6 percent from the floor and 37.5 percent from distance.
The hope now is that once superstar Ja Morant makes his return later this month, Bane can continue to produce at this top-notch level, and, in turn, the Grizzlies can find themselves with a truly lethal All-Star trio with them running alongside stud big, Jaren Jackson Jr.
