Grizzlies fans sound off following Ja Morant slight on social media
By Mark Nilon
The Memphis Grizzlies may currently find themselves closing in on the conclusion of one of their most underwhelming seasons in recent memory but, when fully healthy and intact, it goes without question that they are one of the game's most promising young teams.
From the fact that they had won 107 games over the previous two years coming into 2023-24 to their sheer star power, Taylor Jenkins' squad has the early makings of a legitimate title contender and, should they play their cards right, possibly even a dynasty.
The head of this proverbial snake is undoubtedly Ja Morant who, through five seasons in the association, has already established himself as one of the greatest Grizzlies of all time as well as one of the league's premier stars.
And yet, despite these literal facts, the point guard still found himself slighted on a list that ranked the tiers of NBA players currently under the age of 25.
Not only was Morant (24) not found within the first or, at the very least, second tier on the graphic, but his name was not mentioned at all. This, of course, sent Grizzlies fans into an absolute frenzy, as they were seen coming to the defense of their superstar on social media.
Grizzlies fans irate over Ja Morant's exclusion from recent 'tier list'
Automatically, questions started to surface regarding the whearabouts of the Grizzlies stud.
Another user reacted to the omission by using an NSFW meme to describe the post.
One fan went as far as to make the claim that not only is Morant more worthy of a mention than several players listed in the lower tiers, but, frankly, every name mentioned in the graphic.
Perhaps the only plus side of this list is that Jaren Jackson Jr. received acknowledgment for his excellent on-court production, as he was mentioned in the tier three category, but, from Morant's exclusion to the sheer fact that several players (Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Luka Doncic, Trae Young, etc.) don't even meet to "under 25" criteria, such a graphic should be seen for what it truly is: Trash.
Any legitimate player tier or rankings list would see the Grizzlies superstar mentioned, and mentioned high-up at that.
