Final win-loss prediction puts nail in coffin on underwhelming Grizzlies season

Through this point, the 2023-24 campaign has truly been one of the most underwhelming runs in recent history for the Memphis Grizzlies.
From registering just their third 40-plus loss season in a decade to their recent elimination from playoff contention, Taylor Jenkins' squad has endured quite a number of hardships over the past five months of action.
Though the fact that there are now only a handful of games remaining on the docket may bring fans comfort and a bit of relief after such a grueling regular season, current predictions suggest that the bleeding isn't expected to stop until game number 82 comes to its conclusion, as Bleacher Report's Zach Buckley has Memphis winning just three more games and wrapping with a putrid record of 27-55.
Memphis Grizzlies predicted to finish with a putrid record of 27-55
"With no Ja Morant, who had season-ending shoulder surgery in January, Memphis lacks the scoring punch and star power needed to win with any kind of consistency. The Grizzlies have won consecutive games just twice since the start of February, and this projection doesn't see that number increasing."
- Zach Buckley
Perhaps the one saving grace from this season and, in turn, this final nine-game stretch is the high-end development that has been seen from some of the club's younger talents.
Diamonds in the rough have popped up left and right throughout the year, with guys like Vince Williams Jr. and GG Jackson establishing themselves as legitimate long-term commodities and others such as Scotty Pippen Jr. recently thrusting themselves into such a conversation as well.
Though the Grizzlies are now projected to claim their first sub-30 win finish 2017-18, from the continued progression of their youngsters to the return of Brandon Clarke, there are still plenty of reasons for fans to tune in during this final stretch of the regular season.
