2. Lack of natural small forwards

Since the departure of Dillon Brooks last offseason, the Grizzlies have been searching for a viable replacement option at their small forward slot.

Heading into the campaign, the idea was to either have Ziaire Williams take the next step in his career progressions and serve as the position's successor or, once Ja Morant came back to the lineup, slide Marcus Smart down to the three and hope that his defensive expertise can make up for his lacking size (6-foot-3, 220-pounds).

Fast forward six months later, and we find that neither of these options seems to be all that enticing for Memphis moving forward, and, in turn, the front office should still be eager to find a natural three to have within their arsenal.

Though guys like Vince Williams Jr., GG Jackson, and Lamar Stevens have all emerged in varying degrees as possible answers at the three, all have some drawbacks attached to them being the former is more of a two-three hybrid while the latter two, at least at the moment, have proven to fair better at the four.

At the moment, it may be safe to assume that Williams will likely be coming into the 2024-25 season as the frontrunner to man the small forward position, but they should focus some of their attention this summer on finding a traditional small forward to flesh out their depth.
