Following a grueling 27-55 finish to the 2023-24 campaign, it's more than apparent that this Memphis Grizzlies team needs to make some alterations to their assortment of talent ahead of next season.

To some, the front office should only be looking into making minor adjustments, as lacking health proved to be the primary catalyst during their putrid 82-game run on the year more than anything else.

With this train of thought, methods such as using their upcoming lottery pick to address key rotational needs and courting free agents via low-cost contracts should be their primary course of action.

On the flip side, however, there are always those who hope to see the Grizzlies finally cash in on their enviable amount of draft capital and other promising trade chips and strike on some sort of splashy deal to bolster their star power and, simultaneously, up their odds of contending for an NBA Championship.

Recently, Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report penned a piece that seems to fan the proverbial flames of this latter approach. Unfortunately, his proposed idea would come at the expense of one of the club's most beloved cornerstones.

Trade proposal has Memphis Grizzlies sending Desmond Bane outbound

In an exercise where he constructed trades based on recent league-related rumors, Buckley linked the Grizzlies into the mix as being a realistic landing spot for one of the game's most buzzed-about possibly disgruntled stars in Cleveland Cavaliers guard, Donovan Mitchell.

In order for them to accomplish such a feat, however, the seasoned B/R writer believes it would come at the expense of Desmond Bane.

We at BSB have a few strong thoughts on Buckley's controversial proposal.
