Laying out the trade

As noted, the Grizzlies managed to bolster their center position this offseason with their decision to draft behemoth big Zach Edey with the ninth overall pick in June's festivities.

Of course, considering just how barren the club's pivot depth was last season, it might be beneficial to continue bolstering that area of the roster heading into their upcoming redemption campaign.

Zach Buckley believes scouring the trade market could be a route worth taking in an effort to strengthen the team's weakest position, and this proposed transaction with the Utah Jazz is a move he believes Memphis "can make right now."

High on the idea of uniting Edey and Kessler within the same rotation, Buckley suggests a pairing "could mash opposing teams in the middle," and, according to SNY's Ian Begley, doing so could cost as little as a first-round pick.

Of course, in order to make the finances work, the proposed exchange sees Santi Aldama being sent out to Salt Lake City, which is a move that could be beneficial for the Jazz considering they could soon be moving on from their current primary power forward, Lauri Markkanen -- who has been the subject of trade talks all offseason -- as well as the Grizzlies, for the 23-year-old is entering the final year of his current deal and, considering the club's financial situation, could realistically be passed on for a reunion come next summer anyway.
