1. 3-point shooting

The 3-point shooting issues are nothing new. Memphis was 23rd in 3-point percentage and 16th in threes made in 2023. Their attempts have gone way up this season, but the Grizzlies have sunk to 30th in percentage. The worst shooting team in the league is not making the playoffs.

The shooting issues go beyond Ja Morant, Marcus Smart, and Jaren Jackson Jr. in Memphis. If the Grizzlies add a strong rebounder to their mix, the odds are against him being a plus-shooter. The front office had to trade Steven Adams because he wouldn’t even attempt triples. Memphis cannot have four non-shooters.

The Grizzlies bench is a total question mark. Training camp competitions likely decide who gets minutes, and shooting could be a massive factor. Even playing someone like Luke Kennard to boost their percentage could blow up on the defensive end. Memphis is trying to thread a needle, but the yarn may just be too large.

The Memphis Grizzlies will have a lottery pick to show for this disastrous season, but it may have created more questions than answers. Their roster may not fit. It is on the front office to figure out how to get them back into contention in 2025. Ja Morant will be must-see when he returns to the floor, so stay tuned.
