3. Dorian Finney-Smith

The Nets entered a rebuild by trading Mikal Bridges for a massive haul of draft capital and re-acquiring their own first-rounders from Houston. Brooklyn is likely headed for a total teardown and will have several veterans for sale before the Feb. 6 trade deadline.

Memphis needs a 3-and-D wing to round out their roster. Luke Kennard is a lights-out shooter but struggles on defense. Marcus Smart is a plus defender with an inconsistent jumper. Unless a young talent steps up, it is a serious hole for the Grizzlies.

Dorian Finney-Smith is set to make $14.9 million this season. He shot over 39 percent from 3-point range in his final two seasons in Dallas and can guard multiple positions. DFS is not a lockdown defender, but he plays within a scheme and is the combo forward every contender needs.

The Grizzlies may be able to pry Day’Ron Sharpe away with Finney-Smith. It could solve their issues at the five and give Memphis another plus defender.

This may present an opportunity to save some money and get two key pieces near the trade deadline. The Nets are just $1.2 million below the tax, but who knows what their situation will be on Feb. 6. It could be a way for Memphis to save $1 million and push toward the title race. They would be giving up the best player, but the franchise needs the right pieces around their top-end talent.
