Grizzlies Player No. 2) GG Jackson

It goes without saying that 2023-24 was an abysmal season as a whole for the Grizzlies. From their lackluster 27-55 record to their first playoff-less finish since 2019-20, almost everything that could have gone wrong for Memphis did.

However, amid the turmoil still proved to be a few bright spots, with easily the brightest of all being the surprise production of their 45 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, GG Jackson.

Though he started out the year on a two-way deal and saw split time with the varsity team and their G League affiliate, the Memphis Hustle, Jackson quickly established himself as a high-end prospect upon receiving respectable minutes within coach Taylor Jenkins' rotation.

He would wrap up his first season in navy, blue, and gold threads boasting impressive averages of 14.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.2 assists while shooting 42.8 percent from the floor and 35.7 percent from distance.

He would only go on to up his production when inserted into the starting lineup for 18 outings on the year, as he would register 20.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in such a role.

As a result of his impressive play, he would not only earn a standard, long-term deal with the organization but, also, was named to the NBA's All-Rookie Second Team, becoming the lone second-round selection from his respective class to earn such honors.

Now, heading into year two, the hope is that Jackson can improve upon his already sound play and advance his game even further as he tries to establish himself as a foundational rotation piece within this title-hungry team's core.

His quest to do so officially starts Monday night against the Jazz.
