3 notable center trade targets Grizzlies have been linked to
By Mark Nilon
1. Nic Claxton
For months now, the link between Nic Claxton and Memphis has been well-documented. From his subliminal message leaving the door open to a possible signing out in Grind City to superstar Ja Morant's social media activity hinting at his interest in his addition, a pursuit of the 25-year-old has been a hot topic among Grizzlies nation.
Recent chatter among media pundits suggests that it's still a realistic option for Kleiman and company to consider, as Michael Scotto of HoopsHype mentioned in a piece this week that Memphis is one of only a handful of teams capable of executing a sign-and-trade exchange for the Brooklyn Nets big.
"Two teams with the ability to make a sign-and-trade agreement potentially happen are the Memphis Grizzlies and New Orleans Pelicans."
- Michael Scotto
A truly athletic specimen who can swat shots and rim run like few others across the association, the 25-year-old is coming off a tremendous campaign with the lowly Nets where he posted 11.8 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game while shooting 62.9 percent from the field.
His enviable frame of 6-foot-11 with a 7-foot-2 wingspan makes him a horrifying matchup to square off against for a large chunk of opposing pivots in the association and, though he doesn't provide much in the floor-spacing department, his ability to sky over the trees near the rim for lob passes from the always monitored Morant could be a recipe for much improved interior play, an area Memphis severely struggled in this past season.
All things considered, if Kleiman and co. want to make a splash at the center spot this summer, acquiring a guy like Claxton should be at the top of their list.
