Grizzlies reporter reveals chilling Cam Spencer statement that will get fans hyped

Memphis Grizzlies rookie guard Cam Spencer is turning heads early on in his professional career.
Despite falling to the late second round of June's NBA Draft, the reigning NCAA Champion has captivated both teammates and audiences alike with his impressive on-court skill set and unique competitive nature.
Already, core members of the Grizzlies organization have gone on record to share their astonishment over the 24-year-old's drive to excel on the hardwood, with sophomore sensation GG Jackson going as far as to label him a "f*cking dog," and, just recently, team reporter Kelcey Wright Johnson revealed recent comments made by Spencer himself that will certainly excite the Grind City fanbase.

During a recent appearance on the Jessica Benson Show, Johnson discussed how Jackson's remarks referring to Spencer as a "dog" aren't uncommon within this Grizzlies locker room, as she found that Summer League headman Jason March and Jake LaRavia also labeled him as such.
Later on in her sit-down, she revealed that she asked the former UConn standout himself why so many people are saying the same thing about him, and, in response, he provided her with an awesomely intense statement that should get fans amped up about their newest guard talent.
"I said that to him yesterday, I said 'Why do people keep calling you this? Why the same word?' And he was like, 'I'm just the ultimate competitor.' I was like 'Ok, but, like, everyone in the NBA is a competitor. That's why we're here. What makes you different?' This guy looked me in the eyes and said, 'The difference is, I would sacrifice my life on the court to win a basketball game.'"

This isn't the first time that Spencer's on-court intensity levels have been noted, for even when regarding his collegiate career, the guard was described as someone who "just turns into a different guy on the court" by CT Insider Dave Borges, as per Damichael Cole of the Commercial Appeal.
Outside of his untethered tenacity, Spencer has also drawn praise for his productivity throughout Summer League thus far, as he finds himself sporting impressive per-game averages of 14.7 points, 3.7 assists, and 4.3 rebounds while shooting 54.8 percent from the field and 52.9 percent from distance through three outings played.
Though currently attached to a two-way contract and, in turn, slated to spend the majority of his rookie campaign revolving in and out of the G League, with his impressive start to his professional tenure, many are excited to see just how far the youngster's determination and on-court expertise can take him as he navigates his way through this next level of basketball.
