Monday night, the UConn Huskies repeated as back-to-back NCAA Tournament Champions, the first time such as feat has been accomplished since 2007. Amid the afterwave of praise from fans and onlookers alike, Memphis Grizzlies power forward Santi Aldama was seen shouting out one of the game's stand-out difference-makers, Cam Spencer.

A fifth-year player at the collegiate level, Spencer spent the first three of his eligible seasons suiting up for the Loyola Greyhounds, two of which were spent running alongside Aldama (2019-2021).

Unfortunately, while donning the green and white threads in Loyola, neither Spencer nor Aldama were able to take part in any NCAA Tournament action, though, according to the Grizzlies big's post on X (formerly Twitter) winning the big dance was always a goal in their heads.

Now, after five years of action and two transfers, the 24-year-old can officially call himself a National Champion.

A regular within coach Dan Hurley's starting lineup throughout his first season with the university, Spencer went on to log 34 minutes in the final matchup against Purdue and filled the stat sheet with 11 points, 8 rebounds (game-high), 2 assists, 2 steals, and a block.

Regarding his debut season in the Big East, the guard wraps up with impressive all-around averages of 14.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.5 steals all while boasting a 48.4 percent shooting clip from the floor and 44.0 percent clip from distance.

Though Aldama never attended the University of Connecticut, with his close friend's recent triumph, at least for the moment he's a Huskies fan.
