Taylor Jenkins reveals message to Grizzlies following ugly loss to Nets
By Mark Nilon
Though they may be a mere 20-38 on the season, the Memphis Grizzlies have rarely resembled what their lowly record might represent, as they've found themselves battling in virtually every game they've played during this year's campaign.
Unfortunately, Monday night was one of those rare occasions where they produced like how their sub-.500 mark would suggest, as they were demolished by the equally lowly, though in many ways far more hapless Brooklyn Nets.
From their offensive woes that saw them shoot a mere 38.7 percent from the floor and 26.9 percent from deep to their defensive struggles that allowed Kevin Ollie's club to see seven individuals drop double-digit scoring performances on just around 50 percent shooting, the Grizzlies were absolutely demolished by Brooklyn and, in the end, fell by a final score of 111-86.
With 24 games remaining on the docket, considering their lackluster success rate, many may fear that the club could be more open than ever to simply wave the white flag and call it quits on this grueling regular season.
However, coach Taylor Jenkins recently reiterated his commitment to finishing strong, as he told reporters during his post-game press conference that he's emphasizing his team to use short-term memory and to focus on what's to come rather than dwell on the shortcomings that have already come to pass.
Taylor Jenkins reveals message to Grizzlies following loss to Nets
"We're going to be better on Wednesday. Give the Nets credit, they played great tonight. All of us, we've just got to be better on Wednesday. It's as simple as that."
- Taylor Jenkins
With this loss, it registers in as the 13 time this year that the Grizzlies have failed to pass the century mark, and their third instance over their last five outings.
Now, the club sets its sights on Wednesday's matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves, a foe who presents a much greater challenge to come away victorious but is one who, during their last face-off back in late January, saw a showing that remained competitive until deep into the fourth.
