The holiday season may be inching closer to a close but that just means the NBA trade season is soon to come into full swing and for the Memphis Grizzlies this period could serve as a great way to bolster their talent pool and help them on the journey to recovery.

Though they may have only lost just once since Ja Morant made his return back from suspension on December 19, overall Taylor Jenkins' squad is a mere 10-21 on the year and resides in the 13 seed out in the Western Conference standings.

The Grizzlies are heading in the right direction with their superstar now back in tow but considering the slew of other key absences strewn across the roster the interest in adding some extra talented ballers to their arsenal should be high and, recently, Josh Cornelissen of King James Gospel constructed a trade idea that could aid in their path forward.

Grizzlies trade proposal lands All-Star center Jarrett Allen

The most glaring rotational weakness this Grizzlies team has is out at the wing.

However, with fan favorite target OG Anunoby now off the market following his trade to the Knicks on December 30, there doesn't appear to be many other realistic options at the three that they should consider pursuing, thus suggesting a logical course of action could now be to try and address another position in need of bolstering.

Next in line in the pecking order is the center spot what with the full-season absence of primary option Steven Adams (knee surgery) and Cornelissen seems to believe that this hypothetical transaction for Jarrett Allen could be a tremendous way to strengthen the pivot.

In many ways, a talent like Allen compliments this Grizzlies rotation quite seamlessly.

Like the sorely missed Adams, the Cavaliers big is a player who looks to protect the paint and gobble up boards on both ends of the floor while boasting the capability of scoring at an incredibly efficient rate.

Since establishing himself as an NBA All-Star and a legitimate frontcourt staple back in 2021-22, the 25 year old finds himself sporting impressive averages of 15.0 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks while shooting 66.3 percent from the field.

Plugging him into a starting lineup alongside Jaren Jackson Jr., Desmond Bane, and Morant would only strengthen Memphis' inside-out, two-way play as they look to rise in the standings through the rest of 2022-23 while adding the remaining years of his five-year, $100 million deal would provide them with a reliable and youth-oriented option down low through at least 2026.

For a return like this, though it may sting to give up the fan favorite Adams, packaging him along with their underwhelming former lottery pick in Ziaire Williams and a future first could easily prove to be worth it for this hungry Grizzlies
